In eight short weeks, Midtown Yoga’s YTT program changed my life. I first came to train out of curiosity to learn more about yoga and fuel my passion for the practice. However, I left with so much more than I could have ever imagined.
Within the first week, I was exposed to the wholistic curriculum, experiencing and learning things I never had the opportunity to do so before. I was trained by a seasoned group of senior teachers, who together have amazingly diverse and skilled backgrounds. I formed nine meaningful relationships with my trainee group, all who I will forever have a special bond with. Most importantly, I was able to find my inner strength and my inner truth and let these two factors become the guiding light of my life. Today I am able to take yoga off my mat and into my everyday life.
In short, I’ve become a better version of myself.
“In short, I’ve become a better version of myself.”
Midtown Yoga teacher training was one of the most transformative eight week periods of my life. I not only grew stronger physically in my practice, but I deepened my self-awareness and feel more grounded and connected in everything that I do.
The intensive eight week program allowed me to learn from some of the most passionate, influential and engaging experts in Raleigh's yoga community. Emily selected the absolute best teacher in each area of the program.
I ended the training feeling confident and empowered in my abilities as a teacher, but I also left with so much more.
I not only witnessed changes in myself, but I watched my fellow trainees grow into the best versions of themselves. I consider them to not only be great friends, but sisters. The community Emily has fostered at Midtown Yoga really feels like a second home and the yoga family I never knew I needed.
“I ended the training feeling confident and empowered in my abilities as a teacher, but I also left with so much more.”
One day Emily asked us to say one word about what the yoga training experience meant to us and my one word was “empowered” and that word continues to stand out to me. I do feel empowered by the new knowledge I gained about myself and about yoga, my new friends, and the support through it all.
I gained a new perspective on expectations of myself and learning to let my guard down and allow myself to make mistakes and recognize the lessons learned. It seems so simple, but to a to-do list maker and planner it was breakthrough for me.
I went into the training with an open mind and full intention of learning how to be a better me for myself, family, friends, and community and I came out with more than I expected. I am eager to continue learning.
“I went into the training with an open mind and full intention of learning how to be a better me … and I came out with more than I expected.”
Before beginning my teacher training at Midtown Yoga, I had researched many local and international programs in hopes to gain knowledge on the different types and styles of training before committing to MY. I personally had high expectations for whichever teacher training course I would choose, and I can say without a doubt, I know I chose the right training for me.
I am not sure I will be able to say enough kind words about how thankful and appreciative I am for this experience. The time, effort, and energy that Emily put into creating this training course were so thorough and thoughtful. The breadth of topics we covered included, anatomy, Sanskrit, asana, assisting, philosophy, history, business, and so much more. But more importantly I feel that I have come home with the experiences, literature, and resources I need to continue to cultivate my personal practice and also, continue learning and growing to become a more experienced yoga teacher, as well as a better version of myself.
I am so humbled and grateful for this experience and the personal growth it has brought into my everyday life.

MY Teacher Training is perfect for anyone who is trying to deepen their practice both on and off that mat, as well as share their practice with others through teaching. As a high schooler I was part of a dance studio that was my home away from home. Ever since then I have craved that bond with others...till now.
I found my family away from home and a group of women who love me for all that I am. I laughed, cried, and was vulnerable. At the end of this training, we all found our voice and our passion for yoga on and off the mat deepened.
